About

The Death of Music is a music blog I decided to start in 2017 (as Young and Broke and Pissed), as an outlet for covering more underground music, attempting to offer constructive criticism and feedback to aspiring musicians rather than the unnecessary hyperbole that comes with most modern music journalism. Since 2014, I've been a regular writer for the webzine Rocksins, having reviewed new releases by artists including Babymetal, Once Human and Deftones, while interviewing such names as Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost, Bloodbath), Josh Eppard (Coheed & Camrbia) and Logan Mader (Once Human, ex-Machine Head).

Aside from music journalism, I have also been active in playing music, performing since 2012 in various acts (including 2 demos and 2 EPs with Eight Days from 2012-2015), with the latest being Dizruption from 2018-2019. In 2015, I briefly established Serene Chaos Records, putting out releases by Rescue Dogs, Ghost Hall and Pupious, among others, although this venture is currently inactive.

The original name for this blog was taken from a song by digital hardcore group The Named, from their self-titled debut album. Since rebranding in early 2020, the name has been an homage to the Devin Townsend song of the same name.

Artwork for this blog was made by Micah Doan.
